Indians for Collective Action (ICA) a San Francisco Bay Area ICA is a volunteer-run nonprofit group, believes that all humans are entitled to a secure life in a sustainable environment and in a just society.
Since its inception in 1968, ICA has funded charities in India that do not have the ability to raise funds by themselves in the US. ICA has nurtured social activists, dedicated social workers, launched numerous initiatives including Asha for Education and Foundation for Excellence, and supported innovative community-led development projects in over 20 Indian states and disbursed millions of dollars over the past five decades.
ICA supports initiatives which:
- 1. Are focused on poverty alleviation
- 2. Uphold a non-sectarian and non-political agenda
- 3. Support rural communities and projects with least access to resources
- 4. Emphasize women and children’s issues
- 5. Are innovative, sustainable, scalable and replicable
ICA is looking for volunteers in the key areas such as:
- 1. Fund Raising
- 2. Outreach to the Bay Area Community
- 3. Web Site maintenance
- 4. Building Alliances with other non-profits

You could volunteer your services in the following areas:
- Teaching children/youth over Skype in a virtual classroom (this works!)
- Teaching sport
- Training mothers in vocations other than beedi-rolling
- Training in art/craft
You may fund any of the following projects in part/full:

- Education project – covering formal, non-formal education, curricular and extra-curricular for school and college students
- Employment Education – training in softskills, coaching for competitive examination – Rs. 80,000 for a year
- Sports and sport events – Rs. 1,00,000 a year, for training over week ends and two events
- Tours and excursions – Rs. 60,000 for two tours during the year
- Seed capital for the self-help group to work on processed food products as a pilot project Rs. 30,000
- Seed capital for a self-help group initiative in quilted fashion accessories – Rs. 50,000
- Environment initiatives – maintaining and enhancing the green cover on the river bank and in the village – Rs. 25,000 for a year
